Help Yourself Before You Help Others

One of the hardest things I ever had to do was tell my friend I couldn’t help him, and it was just as hard telling his father that I couldn’t help my friend either. I was about two weeks sober, and my best friend’s addiction was just about as bad as mine, and he finally got a DUI.
